Barbeque Cookoff Rules

Registration is now open for this year's BBQ Cook Off!

Current Number of Participants Registered as of 6/8/2025:
RIBS: 10 CHICKEN: 8

All participants must be registered for the Cook-off.

The participants will be judged by meat tenderness, texture, sauce, taste, and presentation.

Participants’ locations within the designated park area for the cook-off will be assigned.

  • All participants must supply materials, including a grill, charcoal, chicken (for 8-10 judges), etc. One slab of ribs will be provided to the first ten registered participants who show up on the designated date/time. The date, time, and location will be shared after you register

All cooking must be done on park premises; no pre-cooked items are permitted.

All participants can begin cooking in the park at 7:30 a.m.; judging begins at noon by our judges.

All participants are responsible for keeping their area clean during and after the cook-off.

No alcohol or prohibitive substances are allowed on the Urbana Park District property.

  • Participants may enter the rib competition, chicken competition, or both. First, second, and third-place prizes will be awarded for both categories.

Participants agree to the regulations listed above. Any violations will result in a forfeit from the competition.
