Honoring a youth from high school and below who have shown exceptional dedication to community service and involvement, making a significant positive impact through their volunteer efforts and leadership. This award honors young individuals who inspire their peers and contribute to the well-being and unity of the community, reflecting the spirit of Mrs. Jettie Rhodes.

Kierra Moten, a native of Urbana, is a natural-born leader with a passion for helping others. Actively involved in her community and school, she has volunteered for various community events and church groups and made care packages for soldiers during the holiday seasons. She has prepared materials to make over 100 shoes for kids in Uganda and helped raise money to provide violins for 12 Urbana elementary school children who could not afford them.
Kierra is a rising senior at Urbana High School. She serves as co-president of the African American Club, a Student Ambassador for the Parent Teacher Student Association, the Marketing and Media Coordinator for the concert choir, and a founding member of the Student Equity Advisory Committee at UHS. She has also been part of the class senate and student council. Since the age of five, Kierra has been a dedicated Girl Scout with Troop 2207. With her troop, she actively feeds the hungry, collects socks for the homeless, and volunteers at various community events such as the “Big Give” at Stone Creek Church and local food pantries. She participates in fundraisers to help causes she believes in and plans summer trips.
Kierra has been the manager of the Girls Basketball Team since eighth grade. Additionally, she volunteers at the concession stands for the Boys Basketball Team. She enjoys supporting others in their activities and sports and is always encouraging to her peers.
Kierra volunteers annually as a huddle leader at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp and has spent summers volunteering at the Urbana Park District Nature Camp for 15-20 hours per week as a counselor in training. Known for her involvement in various organizations, Kierra continuously seeks ways to help others, especially in Urbana.
Her hobbies include singing, listening to music, shopping, baking, traveling, spending time with friends and family, planning fun events, and watching movies.
Kierra has received numerous awards for leadership and academic achievement, including the Girl Scout Bronze and Silver Awards, the President's Gold Level Volunteer Service Award every year since 2018, requiring hundreds of hours of service each year, and the Doris Hoskins Prestigious Community Service Award "Spirit of Love" with her Girl Scout Troop. Additionally, she has received the Mayoral Volunteer Recognition, the Optimist Club Award, Best of the Day at Solo and Ensemble Contests, and is a High Honors student. Kierra enjoys learning and strives to excel in everything she undertakes.
